Java Junkys ready for printing [20 Dec 2006|10:08am]
I just signed up with this nifty little site, www.imagekind.com
I can upload my files and have my art ready to print. Customers and go to my site and pick out what they want and add different mat colors and frames. When they buy something I get a little bit of commission. So I am planning to produce alot of art for this.

Check out my own page here: mida.imagekind.com/JavaJunkys

Wowee Mowee!! I was on the discussion forum at ebay talking about blogging and stuff. One of the artist there was gracious enough to add me to her blog. She's a real neat artist and does pop art which I adore. Go check out her blog at http://jelene.efx2.com/

I've been reading about an artist out of London who used the youtube.com site to show the world her artistry skills. She posted the finished piece on ebay on a whim. Started at a single pence and went up to a whopping 300 plus pounds!!
Oh lordy lordy, I think we might have something here. Check out her video here, quite interesting http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9NS2F9jYS0

Pure Abstraction Series [20 Oct 2006|11:42am]
I started a new series called "Pure Abstraction". I basically use a pallet knife technique and blend heavy base acrylic modeling paste with different colors.

Here's a couple of them so far. Listed on ebay at a nice starting price.

"Victorian Abstract" series [26 Sep 2006|06:36pm]
I've been trying to find my "groove" in regards to creating something that is both fulfilling and appealing. I'm hoping this is it. I've always been attracted to the victorian style of art and see it just about everywhere. From the clothes that people wear, to the magazines I peruse. Look around, it's everywhere! I also like the retro moderism look in art. So by being influenced by all this, I've been coming up with my own style and slapping it on the canvas and whatever form of material I can get my hands on.

So far I've sold three of these, I hope to sell every one of them soon. They really deserve a nice home. Enjoy!!

Been a long time [05 Sep 2006|09:42pm]
Wow, it sure has been a long time since I last put a post in here. I guess I've been too tied up in other activities I sort of forgot to be coming here. Actuuall I lied. I havn't really been to tied up. Just laziness and procrastinations. Two of my bad habits. Yuck!

I had quite a good weekend, so I had to put it into my journal. I went to the Pike Place Market and sold my art the whole weekend, from Sat to Mon. I found myself a little spot at the top of the stairs where it goes from the waterfront up to the market. I even took my djembe drum with me and played it while the people walked by. People stopped by chatted and some bought my art. It was great. Overall I sold about 15 of my paintings. I am definately gonna do it again next weekend just as long as the weather behaves.

Juva Junkys [08 Jun 2006|03:01pm]
This is the first of my series I call
"Java Junkys"

You've seen these people,
hanging out at the cafes,
sipping their lattes,
chatting it up with their friends,
reading books, typing away at laptops
and all that good stuff.

Being from Seattle, this is the norm,
people just can't cope without their
daily fix of java.
(aka coffee, espresso, latte, cuppa joe)

Once you get hooked on this stuff,
you too could become a
"Java Junky"

The Juggler [25 Apr 2006|11:19am]
[ mood | mellow ]

Well, out of the 10 paintings I did from the "Abstract Figure" series, 7 of them sold. Not too shabby, huh? Some of them went for only a buck, while others got some bids as high as 19 dollars. I think if I keep at it and generate more interest with these, perhaps the value will go up.

I'm starting to stretch myself and explore more creative ways to do these. I don't ever want to get bored of doing these. I'm sure I'll find ways to keep them interesting.

Here's the latest one in my "Abstract Figure" series

Here's the start of my "Abstract Figure" painting series. I've been able to produce 10 of these in the past week.
I'm listing these on ebay for one week only with a starting bid of one dollar! We'll see how it goes.

Sketches, Doodle, Ideas [23 Mar 2006|11:08am]
[ mood | stressed ]
[ music | Zwan - Riverview ]

Several weeks ago I did some sketches of abstract figures. After looking at them I'm thinking of making full size paintings of them.
I think I need to create new directions in my art and I think these will help me get on the right path.

Yessy! [14 Mar 2006|09:07am]
[ mood | optimistic ]
[ music | Silence ]

Someone from the lj community suggested I try out yessy.com as another alternative to selling my art online. I checked it out, looked good and joined! You can see my online gallery at http://www.yessy.com/daviesartgallery/gallery.html. It's a helluva deal at only $60 for the whole year and there is no limit to how many pics I can upload. Worth a shot for more exposure. And it's incredibly easy to use!

I think I'll put all of my fixed price items here as well as my ebay store. Whenever my auctions end they'll go directly into yessy and ebay store at fixed price with best offer options.

This is my latest I completed several days ago called "Balancing Act". I think I can do a whole bunch more like this depending on the response I get through ebay and elsewhere.

New Painting [05 Mar 2006|10:30am]
This one is called "Transcendental" a two panel diptych. It has several variations of hanging it. I think this will be a cool concept once people get the hang of it. (no pun intended)

Another way to hang

Submission [19 Feb 2006|11:38am]
I just submitted myself, or rather, my journal site to this place in hopes of getting more exposure. It seems my hits on ebay and my own site has gone down in the last couple of weeks. So I've got to find more creative ways in getting more exposures for my art.
I think this week I will dedicate more time in marketing myself. It's one of those things that I don't really like to do but seems to be a necessary evil.

Now for some begging: Please vote for me to get my ratings up there somewhere in cyberspace!

Arts Blog Top Sites

Oh and I almost forgot, I got myself a little spot on this cool looking site:
http://www.1millionpixelsartgallery.com/ (I'm in the #38 spot)
If you're familiar with the milliondollarhomepage started by that brilliant British kid. This is one of the take-offs from it. This one is pretty unique because it caters to only artists. So it is more targeted to the art market, unlike all the other crazy pixel pages sprouting everywhere. And best of all for a limited time it s FREE, so you better get in now. I think half of it filled up already. It's also very cool to check out all the different artist on one site. I actually jumped on the original milliondollarhomepage pixel site before it sold out. A tiny little 10 x 10 square. It got me some good exposure for the first couple months, but now the hype has pretty much died down.

I've got to keep trying new things and different ways to make it work.
